The sound of Davy's pipes here is one I'm trying to emulate. Those pipes are to die for.

Davy does make his own pipes and they are excellent, but the sound also has a lot to do with his reed making, tuning, and not to forget his master skills as a pipers. He could do this with many pipes of various makes. His pipes would sound terrible with a bad or poorly made reed. I think you get the point. What you make may be as good as what Davy makes but it may not sound as good unless your a good reedmaker, and a decent player. cat
