Hollow mainstocks Empty Hollow mainstocks

How many of you have made the Kenna hollow mainstock? Ive made one in boxwood and it was a real challenging project. Oncce i figure out how to do it Ill show you it.

I have the drawings of it from Sean Reid but I haven't messed with it yet. I like a solid stock.

6Dont you find the drones lock much better in a hollow stock. This one is from the timothy kenna set on srs. Not much further to go with it Smile

How are you drilling your stocks. I've always been amazed at all the different methods people use to do the same task. I drill mine upright in a drill press with a milling vice. Seth

Yeah. I use a drill press as wel, but lately I have started using forstner bits instead of drills. A lot of the pros seem to have made a clamp arrangement that bolts onto the cross slide of their metal lathe, holding the drill bit in the lathe chuck.
