Whats everyone making then?
What are you all working on? Theres a few new faces here as well as some more familiar ones. It would be great to hear what you are making and how well it's going.
I continue to indulge my passion for all things uilleann. Im currently making reamers for a C chanter. Id had the metal lathe for a year and have just started to use it. I was very resistant to the change from purely woodturning but now I begin to see the possibilities and am starting to think maybe I should have done it a long time ago. The drones are made as is the mainstock, the micrometer finally arrived so its going to be a busy weekend. If it would just warm up a bit, it was minus 18 this morning.

A double eccentric mainstock cup is what I've been making for myself, a one-off lot of work; hope it works.

Just out of curiosity, did you turn that from a solid or have you done some really good brazing? My metalwork is poor but gradually improving. The day I can make something that looks that good I'll know Im winning.

It's made from three tube sizes and two seperate sheets, 3 silver joints and one soft solder joint.
A bit over the top I know.

Re: Whats everyone making then?
Well its been an interesting week one way or another. Ive had the week off work and decided to spend it in the shed. I found a supplier of ebony whose prices didn't involve a small mortgage so palced a small order, not expecting very much. So far I have made an uilleann D chanter a C chanter and a bass drone (now working properly(Thanks Michael)). The D chanter sounds divine as do the drones. The monster of a C chanter is still in progress, I should finish it tomorrow. Ill post some pictures very soon. What is everyone else making and how about some pictures/sound files or videos.
